I was born on 6th July 1957 at home in Lilley Close, Holbrooks, Coventry to William Thomas Morson, a machine tool setter at Jaguar Cars, Radford and Gladys Irene Morson (nee Hollis), a shop and office cleaner (both deceased). I am the youngest of five children; 1 brother and 3 sisters, and I am single.

Secondary education was received at Woodlands Comprehensive School, Coventry, and thereafter at HenleyCollege of Further Education, Coventry for 5 ‘O’ levels with a view to joining the Royal Air Force as aircrew. At this time, I joined the Air Training Corps (2286 Arden squadron in Keresley, Coventry, now defunct), and enjoyed rapid exam success and promotion, among other accomplishments

ATC and RAF marksmanship with rifles, an annual camp at RAF Luga in Malta, and solo glider pilots license gained at Gaygon airfield in 1976). An interest in aircraft spotting had been developed by making new friends at Woodland School, one of which endures to this day. Achieving the highest honour and privilege of presenting a cadet Guard of Honour for Group Captain Sir Douglas Bader, DSO, DFC  when he officially opened the newly remodelled bar at Coventry R.A.F. Association club in Coventry in November 1976. I had a long association with the club as a member. Unfortunately, I did not attain the medical standard required for the R.A.F.

After leaving Henley College, I worked in the Cost office, as a clerk, of Motor Panels Coventry which  manufactured lorry cabs and Rolls Royce Camargue bodies, for 5 years. An opportunity arose to work at Jaguar Cars, where my father, his second cousin (Thomas) and my brother had more than 100 years of employment history. (Tom was Chief Body-in-White Engineer with 50 years service by 1980, and designed the XJ-S body). I worked there as a Technical Author until redundancy in 1981, whereupon I picked up a computer course to build on my ‘O’ level Computer Studies.

In 1981, I was awarded a commission in the R.A.F. Volunteer Reserve (Training) Branch as a Pilot Officer, and was able to stay at my own (2286 Arden) squadron. This was curtailed only by gaining my first computer job in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia for the world’s largest oil company, and this was the start of highly successful career in the computer services and support lasting 25 years. During this time, I worked mostly on contract, in a variety of prestigious organisations, including the University of Warwick and the Leamington Spa Building Society (until it merged with the Bradford and Bingley B.S. In 1991). As I had accumulated expertise in Unisys medium-sized mainframes, I took a contract in Edinburgh for the Scottish Life Assurance Company, and this led to an eight year residence in that beautiful city, two of which were spent in a course at Napier University, the Craiglockhart campus, where many of the Great War poets recuperated from injuries. Two years were also spent on a prestigious mapping project on computers for Scottish Power in Edinburgh.

In 1999, I was contracted by a search agency with a view to working for the Unisys corporation in London, and after successful interview I moved there, where I was trained in mobile telephony computing. In addition to managing the complex data centre, I travelled to the U.S.A. On several occasions for training and seminars, and eventually wrote a 5-day course in Unified Messaging. This was in addition to developing a test platform on this project at a customer site in Germany. Unfortunately, the lack of new business and market saturation led eventually to the redundancies and the closure of the central London offices, but prior to this, a colleague asked me to join him on a new and highly innovative “dot com” start-up company, as I.T. And customer Service Manager. The company specialised in SMS text messaging services and designed and developed the “bid by SMS” system now used on the eBay auction website. Although initially successful in the rapidly growing market sector, the company did not remain competitive and my post was made redundant immediately prior to a takeover by the largest company in the sector.

By this time (2004), I was living near Colchester in Essex (commuting to London), and senior I.T. Positions were very scarce, based far away (in London - again, or Cambridge), and the competition was extraordinary in terms of volume and quality. I decided to move back to the Midlands, but closer to a lifelong friend and his family, so I settled in Bromsgrove. It is here that I have realised that my life is taking an unanticipated course, and in addition to continuing an autobiography that I started 3 tears ago, I am developing myself as a writer (of non-fiction).

In October 2006, I joined UKIP mainly on the news that Nigel Farage had been elected Leader. Three weeks later, I attended the Bromsgrove branch AGM, where I was elected to the committee. Earlier this year, I was elected to posts as branch Membership Secretary and Fundraising Secretary. After we had selected Dale Carter as the PPC for Bromsgrove, I submitted myself for the consideration, was placed on the ‘A’ list of the PPC’S, and I now seek adoption by a Constituency Association.
